Technology....the iPads are here!
We are very excited at Holy Cross to have completely redesigned our technology program. We have made significant expenditures during the 2012-2013 school year to upgrade the internal structure of Wi-Fi and connectivity in our building giving teachers and students better access to the teaching opportunities on the internet and other resources. This will be introduced under a strong firewall for protection of our students from inappropriate subject matter on the web.
In addition to the infrastructural changes at Holy Cross, the students started the school year with new iPad computers being used in the classroom to integrate the instructors' lessons with additional teaching resources. The use of these iPads starts in the PreKindergarten class and includes all the students at the school. Our students have had a great time in becoming computer savvy.
We have focused on full integration of technology into each classroom in order to broaden what our teachers are able to use in teaching tools. Our curriculum is age-appropriate focusing on the very basic skills that students should possess: keyboard typing, desktop understanding, file access, etc. Beyond this, we follow grade-appropriate curriculum to challenge students to understand technology integration that can be used everyday to do projects, create reports and provide critical computer skills they will use throughout their futures. We have structured this technlogy shift by working with technology integration specialists to assure teachers can properly hone the skills of classroom integration. |
